Helicopter Trimming

Beginning Wednesday, September 9, Warren Electric Cooperative will begin helicopter-assisted vegetation trimming along portions of our electric system. The work is expected to continue for approximately three weeks, with the bulk of the work taking place in the areas of Spring Creek and Columbus between Route 6 and Route 426.

This work is an important part of our ongoing vegetation management program and helps us maintain safe, reliable electric service.

As the helicopter trimming progresses, some members will experience planned power outages while crews work in the area. These outages are necessary to safely perform the work around our electric lines.

To help keep outages as short as safely possible, a Cooperative line crew will be working alongside the helicopter trimming crew. Having our linemen on site allows us to coordinate directly with the trimming operation and restore power when it is safe to do so.

When Will My Power Be Off?

We will be contacting members who may be affected by the work and providing an estimated 5-day work window for their area.

It is important to understand that this window is an estimate, not a specific outage schedule. The helicopter crew's progress can change considerably from day to day, making it difficult to predict exactly when an individual outage will occur.

Weather, wind conditions, mechanical or equipment issues, and other conditions encountered in the field can all affect the crew's schedule. As a result, the actual outage may occur earlier or later than anticipated, and the work schedule may change as the project progresses.

While we ordinarily make every effort to provide advance notice and keep members informed, helicopter-related outages are nearly impossible to predict with any reliability. The 5-day window is intended to give members an idea of when work is expected in their area, but it should not be considered a guarantee of when an outage will occur.

We understand that planned outages can be inconvenient, particularly when an exact time cannot be provided. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we complete this important work. The trimming will help reduce the potential for tree-related outages and improve the reliability of our electric system.
